We’ve been watching the news recently about how we’ve almost run out of time to stop damaging our Earth, and felt we had to act. We’re well aware that as individuals and as a business, not only are we causing our own emissions, but that the use of paper for the printing of our resources is also having an environmental impact. Obviously we recommend that any of our printed content is recycled, but we realise that it’s not always possible. We believe that businesses like ours should be forces for good, and that’s why, we’re delighted to announce that thanks to Ecologi, every member of our team is now carbon positive!
Each month we will be funding the planting of native and diverse trees in Madagascar, Mozambique or Nicaragua. The planting projects, carried out by Ecologi’s partners Eden Reforestation, help to support communities and reduce poverty by employing local workers. We’ll also be funding the world’s best climate crisis solutions. Ecologi’s climate projects include renewable energy generation, forest protection, and community initiatives such as providing access to clean water.
Ecologi only fund offset projects which meet the highest verification standards, such as Gold Standard or Verified Carbon Standard. In addition we aim to fund projects that meet other important sustainability standards like CCBS and SD VISsta.
And there’s even better news. To help further offset emissions, we pledge to plant a tree for every new member that joins Mrs Mactivity each month in a bid to do even more! Whilst we can never know exactly how much paper is used by our members using our resources, we think this is a good step in the right direction.
If you’d like to keep up with how we’re progressing, take a look at our Ecologi Profile. You can also see the impact that we’re already having:
Here you can see the impact of our first month supporting the Ecologi project. Mrs Mactivity’s reduction of 2.65 tonnes of CO2e is equivalent to one of the following:
We’re delighted to be doing our bit to reduce carbon emissions, and become part of the solution.
