About Mrs Mactivity
Hi, I’m Heather. I started Mrs Mactivity because I was spending far too much time searching for resources that were engaging, purposeful and genuinely useful, and often ended up making my own anyway.
I wanted to create the sort of lessons I’d look forward to teaching: full of interesting ideas, thoughtful questions and opportunities for those lovely little lightbulb moments when something suddenly makes sense.
Almost nine years later, Mrs Mactivity is a small independent team creating complete schemes of work and classroom resources for teachers, schools and parents around the world. The question behind everything is still the same: would I use this with my own class?
Weekly Phase 1 phonics lesson packs, ready to teach
Our members often tell us they value resources that feel thoughtful, distinctive and made with real care.
Complete schemes, lessons and supporting resources sensibly organised to help teachers spend less time searching and more time getting on with teaching.
From practical activities to colourful classroom resources, everything is designed to hold children’s interest and help ideas stick.
When we ask our members why they use Mrs Mactivity, the same things come up again and again. They want resources they can trust, schemes that are clear and well structured, and ideas that feel engaging rather than generic.
They also want everything they need in one place. That means complete schemes of work, lessons that follow a sensible sequence and supporting resources that are ready when they need them, without hours of searching.
That is what we try to get right. Resources that look inviting, make sense to teachers and give children plenty to think, talk and wonder about.
What our members tell us “Visually attractive, accurate, engaging, well structured and versatile.”

We’re a small team of experienced teachers, curriculum specialists and creative thinkers who genuinely love what we do. Between us we’ve taught across EYFS, KS1, KS2 and beyond, and every resource we create is shaped by real classroom experience.
Hi, I’m Heather. Before starting Mrs Mactivity, I spent 10 years teaching in primary schools in the UK and overseas. Since then I’ve worked in educational publishing, including on the senior team at Twinkl and as a Non-Executive Director at Kapow Primary. I also created a Department for Education-validated phonics programme before focusing full-time on growing Mrs Mactivity.
These days I still spend most of my time thinking about curriculum design and managing the website.

“I was impressed by how comprehensive the SPaG scheme is. The accompanying resources are particularly useful because each lesson includes a pre-planned PowerPoint that teaches a specific SPaG objective clearly and explicitly. The differentiated activities that follow make it easy to support pupils at different levels. I have found the scheme invaluable for delivering high-quality SPaG lessons without adding to my workload.”
Rebecca
English Lead
