Year 2 Maths Spring Term

Year 2 Spring Maths Resources

Teach the Spring term with confidence using our Year 2 maths resources, aligned with White Rose Maths and the Year 2 National Curriculum. This collection brings together the full set of Spring blocks, including lesson plans, interactive teaching slides, differentiated worksheets, practical activities and assessment resources.

Throughout the Spring term, pupils develop confidence with multiplication and division, Year 2 statistics, properties of shape and fractions. Lessons support fluency, reasoning and problem-solving through clear modelling, visual representations and mathematical discussion.

Pupils learn to collect, present and interpret information using tally charts, pictograms and block diagrams, while also exploring 2D and 3D shapes, symmetry and fractions including halves, quarters and thirds. Use the blocks in sequence to follow the full Spring progression, or download individual lesson packs to support your existing maths timetable.

Year 2 Spring maths worksheets, lessons and assessments

Our Year 2 Spring maths resources provide a complete sequence of planning, worksheets, teaching slides and assessments for the Spring term. The blocks are aligned with White Rose Maths and support the Year 2 National Curriculum for multiplication and division, statistics, geometry and fractions.

Pupils strengthen multiplication and division skills through counting, grouping and times table patterns before moving on to statistics, where they learn to collect, present and interpret information using tally charts, pictograms and block diagrams.

Year 2 statistics, pictograms and tally charts

A key focus of the Spring term is Year 2 statistics. Pupils collect, present and interpret information using tally charts, pictograms and block diagrams. Lessons help pupils compare data, answer questions and explain findings using mathematical vocabulary and reasoning.

Year 2 shape and geometry

Pupils explore 2D and 3D shapes, investigate faces, edges and vertices, identify lines of symmetry and sort shapes according to their properties. Activities encourage mathematical discussion and reasoning while developing secure geometry knowledge.

Fractions in Year 2

The Spring term also develops understanding of fractions, including recognising, finding and comparing halves, quarters and thirds. Practical activities and visual representations help pupils build secure understanding before applying fractions in different contexts.

What’s included in the Spring term resources?

  • Year 2 maths planning for every Spring block
  • Differentiated Year 2 maths worksheets linked to each lesson
  • Interactive teaching slides to support whole-class teaching
  • Practical maths activities for fluency, reasoning and problem-solving
  • Assessment and revision resources to support retrieval and review

Assessment and revision support

The Spring term assessment and revision resources help teachers review pupils’ understanding of multiplication and division, statistics, shape and fractions. These checks can be used to identify gaps, plan support and prepare pupils for Summer term learning.
