Baseline Assessments

What are baseline assessments?

Baseline assessments are usually carried out at the start of term to allow teachers to collect information about a child’s learning progress, and where they are in terms of knowledge and skills, relating to a particular subject. Teachers often carry out baseline assessments at the beginning of a term to assess where children are at, and plan their lessons accordingly.
