Use this EYFS Baseline Assessment with Suggested Activities Resource Pack as a way to assess children as they first enter their learning journey in reception. Elements of this baseline document are drawn from the 3-4 year old statements of ‘Development Matters’. On entry in reception we are assessing children against end of nursery goals. Are they where we would expect them to be as they start in reception? This document is to support you in your practice and give you a detailed assessment of what each child can do, what they need support with and what they need to be challenged with. Lots of this can be done simply through interacting with the children in provision, talking to them and observing them. At the end of each section you will find some suggested activity ideas to help you to assess children across that area of learning. There are also some included resources to support you where appropriate.
