Give pupils a purposeful start to the school day with five ready-to-use Year 6 morning starter activities for the Autumn Term. Each session combines maths, spelling, grammar and writing with a short reflective question, providing structured Year 6 early morning work that pupils can begin as soon as they arrive.

Across Autumn set 4, pupils practise column addition and subtraction, common factors and multiples, divisibility, and prime, square and cube numbers. English activities include expanded noun phrases, modal verbs, synonyms, hyphenated adjectives, dashes and correcting grammatical errors. Spelling practice covers commonly misspelt words, homophones and words beginning with mini-.

How to use the morning starter presentation

Launch the presentation directly in your browser and display it on your interactive whiteboard. Pupils can complete the activities in their morning books, on individual whiteboards or verbally where appropriate. If you want to work through responses together, you can use your usual interactive whiteboard or screen annotation tools to mark, circle or discuss answers on screen.
