SPaG Scheme Year 2 Summer Lesson 4: Write Sentences Using Co-ordinating Conjunctions (and, or, but)
Year 2 co-ordinating conjunctions worksheet and lesson pack
This Year 2 co-ordinating conjunctions worksheet and lesson pack helps pupils write sentences using the co-ordinating conjunctions and, or and but. Pupils learn how to join ideas and build simple compound sentences.
Through clear teaching slides and structured activities, pupils practise using co-ordinating conjunctions to link words and clauses, improving sentence fluency and writing confidence.
This lesson pack includes:
- Fully resourced teaching slides introducing co-ordinating conjunctions
- Modelled examples and opportunities for oral rehearsal
- Differentiated worksheets for writing sentences using and, or and but
- Grammar small step noted on each worksheet to support progression
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be confident using co-ordinating conjunctions to join ideas and create longer sentences. This provides a strong foundation before moving on to subordinating conjunctions and more complex sentence structures.
This lesson forms part of a structured sequence within our Year 2 SPaG scheme, where pupils move from simple sentences to combining ideas using conjunctions.
