More about our KS1 Geography Scheme of Work
Our KS1 Geography Scheme of Work provides teachers with structured, progressive lessons fully aligned with the National Curriculum. Covering both Year 1 geography and Year 2 geography, the scheme explores local area studies, human and physical features, seasonal and daily weather patterns, contrasting non-European localities, and developing map and atlas skills. For Year 1 geography, children are introduced to their immediate environment through units such as exploring the local park, identifying features in familiar places, and drawing simple maps with keys and compass directions. For Year 2 geography, the scheme builds on this foundation by covering forest features, weather and seasons, and studies of a contrasting non-European city. Each unit includes differentiated worksheets, interactive slides, knowledge organisers, vocabulary cards, and assessment opportunities to support progression across both year groups. To support small schools and mixed-age classes, our scheme offers a two-year KS1 geography cycle that ensures full curriculum coverage without repetition. This makes it ideal for schools teaching Year 1 and Year 2 together. Created by subject specialists and tested in classrooms, our KS1 geography resources promote geographical enquiry, fieldwork skills, and vocabulary development. Recognised as Highly Commended by the Geographical Association, our Glorious Geography scheme supports whole-school progression from EYFS geography through KS2 geography.
