Year 5 morning starter presentation: Autumn set 2

Start the school day with five ready-to-use Year 5 morning starter activities for the Autumn Term. Each day combines short maths, spelling, grammar and writing tasks with a daily question, giving pupils varied Year 5 early morning work that they can begin as soon as they arrive.

Across Autumn set 2, pupils revisit a range of Year 5 skills including adding and subtracting 99 and 999, column addition and subtraction, comparing calculations and solving missing-number problems. English activities include using fronted adverbials, punctuating direct speech, identifying pronouns, choosing has or have correctly and correcting common grammatical errors. Spelling practice covers endings including -cious, -cial, -tial, -ant and -ent, as well as correcting commonly misspelt words.

How to use the morning starter presentation

Launch the presentation directly in your browser and display it on your interactive whiteboard. Pupils can complete the activities in their morning books, on individual whiteboards or verbally where appropriate. If you want to work through responses together, you can also use your usual interactive whiteboard or screen annotation tools to mark, circle or discuss answers on screen.
