Year 3 addition and subtraction within 1,000 assessment (Autumn Block 2)
This Year 3 addition and subtraction within 1,000 assessment is designed to check pupils’ understanding across the full Autumn Block 2 sequence. It includes a range of question types to assess fluency, place value understanding, and pupils’ ability to apply written methods to problem solving.
The assessment covers key objectives from the block, including adding and subtracting hundreds, column addition and subtraction with and without exchange, subtraction using a number line, and completing bar models and related number sentences. It also includes estimating answers, finding complements to 100, and using the inverse operation to check calculations.
Questions are presented in a pupil-friendly format with space for working, making it suitable for an end-of-block check, a catch-up assessment, or evidence for tracking progress. An answer sheet is included.
