Reception Maths Spring Week 6: Length, Height and Time
In Week 6 of our Reception maths scheme, children explore early measurement through practical, hands-on learning. This unit focuses on Reception length activities, height comparison and time sequencing using real objects from the classroom and outdoors. Pupils use mathematical language such as longer, shorter, taller, and shorter to describe and compare, developing their understanding of measurement in meaningful contexts.
Lessons include comparing and ordering by length and height, building towers, measuring from end to end, and sequencing events. Pupils also take part in Reception time activities using terms like before, after, next and later to describe routines and familiar events.
