Year 4 Maths – Summer Block 1: Decimals B

Help pupils deepen their understanding of decimals with our Year 4 Summer Block 1 resources. This unit develops confident work with tenths and hundredths, focusing on making a whole, partitioning decimals in different ways, and comparing and ordering decimal numbers.

Pupils also learn to round decimals with one decimal place to the nearest whole number and explore decimal equivalents of common fractions, including 1/2, 1/4 and 3/4. Throughout the block, models such as place value charts, number lines and hundred squares support accurate reasoning and help prevent common misconceptions.

Every small step includes structured lesson plans, teaching slides and differentiated worksheets aligned with the White Rose small steps, with fluency, reasoning and application built in.
