Year 2 Maths Autumn Block 1 focuses on place value within 100, helping pupils develop a secure understanding of two-digit numbers. Our Year 2 place value within 100 resources help pupils understand the value of each digit in a two-digit number and develop fluency with numbers to 100. Pupils read, write, represent, compare and order numbers while exploring how two-digit numbers are composed of tens and ones.
The block includes Year 2 place value worksheets, teaching slides and practical activities for representing numbers to 100, partitioning tens and ones, using place value charts and number lines, and comparing and ordering numbers. Pupils also practise counting in steps of 2, 3 and 5 and counting in tens.
In Year 2, pupils learn to recognise the place value of each digit in a two-digit number, read and write numbers to at least 100 in numerals and words, and compare and order numbers from 0 to 100. They also identify and represent numbers in different ways, including using objects, part-whole models, place value charts and number lines.
