This Remembrance Day Provision Topic Pack – Miss LVT’s Range contains a huge range of weekly provision plans and ideas complete with tuff tray set up photos, adult-led teaching opportunities for each area of the EYFS, recommended books, activity sheets, key questions, differentiation and more, covering all areas of the EYFS.
Teaching about Remembrance has got so many different teaching opportunities within it. It can be a tricky one for little ones as it’s quite a hard concept for them to understand. In nursery you could refer to it as ‘Poppy Day’ and share that we wear poppies to help us to remember people. We keep it simple. In Reception you could add another layer to that by saying we wear poppies to remember the soldiers who fought in the war to protect our country. It is a good opportunity to develop the children’s understand- ing of past and present too. As you can imagine a lot of the upcoming activities are poppy related and in my experience, it makes for really engaging play in provision.
