EYFS Morning Starter Jobs – Art Morning Work (Summer 2 Week 5)
Celebrate creativity with these EYFS morning starter activities for Summer 2 Week 5. These Reception morning jobs – also called EYFS morning work – provide a purposeful start to the day while supporting phonics, maths, handwriting and fine motor skills through art.
Art Week EYFS morning activities
This week’s set includes:
- Handwriting: Practise forming letters j, e, f, y and s
- Maths: Number bonds to 10 worksheet with counters
- Phonics: Phase 3 activity mats including sh, th, ng and ai
- Writing: Respond to famous artworks like Van Gogh, Hokusai and Kandinsky
- Scissors: Cut out and assemble shapes inspired by Kandinsky
How to use
Divide the class into five groups. Each day, children put away belongings and begin their allocated art-themed task. Rotate groups daily so that by Friday, every child has completed all five activities. This routine encourages calm, creative and consistent mornings.
Why use art morning jobs?
These EYFS art morning jobs link creativity with literacy, maths and fine motor practice. Perfect as Reception settling activities, phonics warm-ups or fine motor stations, they spark curiosity while ensuring children build key Early Years skills.
