EYFS Morning Starter Jobs – Caterpillars Morning Work (Summer 2 Week 3)
Bring minibeast learning to life with these EYFS morning starter activities for Summer 2 Week 3. These Reception morning jobs – also known as EYFS morning work – provide a calm, purposeful start to the day while building skills in phonics, maths, writing and fine motor control.
Caterpillars EYFS morning activities
This week’s set includes:
- Handwriting: Practise forming letters i, b, p and k
- Phonics: Phase 3 activity mats including oi, ear and air
- Maths: Sharing and grouping foods onto plates
- Writing: Write about the stages of the caterpillar life cycle
- Scissors: Cut and order life cycle pictures from egg to butterfly
How to use
Split the class into five groups. Each day, children put away belongings and go straight to their allocated task. Rotate groups daily so that by Friday, every child has experienced all five caterpillar life cycle activities. This routine helps build independence, consistency and engagement.
