EYFS Morning Starter Jobs – Jack and the Beanstalk Morning Work (Summer 1 Week 2)
Bring the classic tale of Jack and the Beanstalk to life with these EYFS morning starter activities for Summer 1 Week 2. These Reception morning jobs – also called EYFS morning work – provide a calm, structured start to the day while supporting phonics, maths, mark making and fine motor skills.
Jack and the Beanstalk EYFS morning activities
This week’s set includes:
- Fine motor: Pick up painted beans with tweezers and sort by colour
- Maths: Represent numbers to 20 by drawing beans in ten frames
- Mark making: Pencil control sheet with beanstalk-themed patterns
- Phonics: Write ‘he is’ sentences to describe Jack and the giant
- Scissors: Cut and assemble your own beanstalk
How to use
Divide your class into five groups. Each day, children arrive, put belongings away and go straight to their allocated task. Rotate groups daily so by Friday, every child has completed all five bean-themed challenges. This routine makes mornings calmer, more purposeful and engaging.
Why use beans morning jobs?
These EYFS beans morning jobs connect storytelling with essential Early Years skills. They work perfectly as Reception settling activities, phonics warm-ups or fine motor stations. Explore more weekly sets in our EYFS Morning Starter Activities collection, or browse the Miss LVT range.
