EYFS Morning Starter Jobs – Burns Night Morning Work (Spring 1 Week 3)
Celebrate Burns Night with our EYFS morning starter activities for Spring 1 Week 3. These Reception morning jobs – also called EYFS morning work – provide a purposeful start to the day while helping children practise phonics, maths, mark making and fine motor skills.
Burns Night EYFS morning activities
This week’s set includes:
- Fine motor: Use paint dabbers or cotton buds to decorate a Scottish thistle template
- Maths: Match bead strings to number bonds to 5
- Mark making: Burns Night colouring sheets
- Phonics: Complete and write ‘th’ words (moth, bath, path, etc.)
- Scissors: Cut out and create the Scottish flag
How to use
Divide your class into five groups. Each day, children put belongings away and go straight to their allocated task. Rotate groups daily so that by Friday, every child has completed all five Burns Night activities. This routine builds independence, confidence and consistency.
Why use Burns Night morning jobs?
These EYFS Burns Night morning jobs connect cultural celebration with purposeful practice. They are perfect as Reception starter tasks, fine motor stations or phonics warm-ups. Explore more weekly sets in our EYFS Morning Starter Activities collection, or browse the Miss LVT range.
