Draw on the time to five minutes to and past the hour worksheet
This draw on the time to five minutes to and past the hour worksheet helps Year 2 pupils become more confident in telling the time to the nearest five minutes. Linked to the National Curriculum and aligned with the White Rose small steps, this activity focuses on drawing both ‘five past’ and ‘five to’ times accurately on analogue clocks.
Children are given a selection of time prompts and are asked to draw the hour and minute hands on blank clock faces. The worksheet supports understanding of how the hands move and the relationship between minutes and the numbers on a clock. It also helps pupils become more fluent with tricky time vocabulary like ‘to’, ‘past’, ‘before’ and ‘after’.
The clear layout and large clock faces make it easy for children to work independently or in small groups. It’s an ideal task for your summer term time unit, a fluency warm-up or a quick assessment of time-telling skills.
This worksheet also helps to identify misconceptions, especially around the position of the hour hand during ‘to’ times.
