Year 4 Autumn Block 4: Multiplication and Division

Autumn Block 4: Multiplication and division (Year 4)

This Year 4 multiplication and division block focuses on securing times tables facts and building fluency with mental multiplication and division. Aligned with White Rose Maths and the Year 4 National Curriculum, pupils develop rapid recall and learn to apply known facts accurately across a range of contexts.

Across the block, pupils revisit and extend multiplication and division facts for the 3, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables. They explore links between multiplication and division facts, use commutativity and factor pairs, and apply known facts to multiply and divide mentally, including working with 0 and 1 and multiplying three numbers.

The unit also includes a dedicated consolidation week to strengthen recall and application of times tables facts up to 12 × 12, supporting preparation for the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check.
