Year 2 Morning Starter PowerPoints Autumn Week 10 contains five daily slides for year 2 early morning work, aligned with the National Curriculum. Each PowerPoint auto-generates the date and combines maths, phonics, writing and wellbeing activities to give children a calm, purposeful start to the day.
Activities in Week 10 include:
- Maths challenges – number bonds to 20 and 100, subtraction, missing digits, using a 100 square and word problems with marbles or pencils
- Phonics and spelling – practising the ‘igh’, ‘oa’ and ‘o’ sounds, completing compound nouns and spelling –ing word families
- Writing tasks – finishing sentences with compound nouns, adding punctuation and descriptive writing prompts
- Wellbeing questions – reflective tasks such as “Why do we have dreams?” and “Can you think of a time when you were kind?”
These Year 2 morning starter slides are flexible for use with whiteboards, morning books or paper. They reinforce number facts, spelling patterns and punctuation while encouraging personal reflection at the start of each day.
