How to introduce yourself on your first day back at school

If you’re an ECT, or perhaps you’ve changed school, or just meeting your new class for the first time, it can be nerve-wracking introducing yourself. Here are some ideas to make it really easy!

  • Write your name on the board and say it clearly to your new pupils.
  • Tell them about your pets, brothers and sisters and any family information you want to share. Remember to only share what you feel comfortable with. If you have any photos – especially of pets – children love to see and hear about this.
  • Agree some classroom rules together, and lay down some of your routines for the year.
  • Ask some questions about your pupils – using our resources!
