Year 3 SPaG Summer Term

Year 3 SPaG scheme and resources – Summer term

The Summer term block of our Spectacular SPaG scheme includes 7 carefully sequenced lessons, each based on a small step from the DfE’s English Appendix 2: Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation (often referred to as GPS). These lessons help Year 3 pupils consolidate key grammar and punctuation skills while beginning to write with more independence and structure.

Each SPaG lesson includes a PowerPoint presentation, an activity sheet and a differentiated worksheet. Activity sheets encourage active engagement, while worksheets allow pupils to apply their knowledge through structured writing tasks. All resources are differentiated at two levels to support a range of learners.

The scheme also includes Year 3 SPaG assessments in the style of GPS tests, complete with mark schemes and answers, alongside an assessment tracker to support progress monitoring. A full set of lesson plans and a termly overview are included to support planning and coverage.

The Year 3 Summer spelling resources sit alongside these lessons, helping pupils apply spelling patterns alongside grammar learning.

Sessions last 15-30 minutes and can be delivered flexibly depending on your timetable. Lessons work well as standalone SPaG sessions or as part of your wider English teaching.
