Year 5 SPaG Scheme – Grammar, Cohesion and Sentence Control

Support Upper Key Stage 2 writing development with our structured Year 5 SPaG scheme of work. Lessons are designed to help pupils manipulate sentence structure, improve cohesion and make more deliberate grammatical choices within their writing.

This Year 5 SPaG scheme includes differentiated grammar worksheets, SPaG activities, interactive teaching slides, spelling resources and clear lesson planning linked to National Curriculum English Appendix 2 objectives.

Pupils explore relative clauses, modal verbs, parenthesis, adverbials, cohesive devices and formal language choices through carefully sequenced lessons that encourage discussion, editing and deeper grammatical understanding.

Lessons are designed to fit flexibly into busy timetables and can be taught in short 15-30 minute sessions across the week. Read more about suggested SPaG timetabling and structure here.
