Year 4 geography scheme of work and resources

Explore our Year 4 geography scheme of work, designed to deepen pupils’ understanding of physical and human geography through engaging enquiry-led lessons. Fully aligned with the National Curriculum, the scheme develops map skills, geographical vocabulary, fieldwork and understanding of how environments and landscapes change over time.

Part of our award-recognised Glorious Geography scheme, recognised as Highly Commended by the Geographical Association, this Year 4 geography curriculum introduces pupils to volcanoes, earthquakes, rivers, mountains, settlements and land use through carefully sequenced Lower KS2 geography lessons.

Each geography lesson pack includes detailed planning, interactive teaching slides, differentiated activities, vocabulary support and enquiry-based learning opportunities to help teachers deliver ambitious geography lessons with confidence.

What’s included in our Year 4 geography scheme?

Our Year 4 geography resources help pupils investigate how physical processes and human activity shape the world around them. Through enquiry-led lessons, pupils explore natural disasters, rivers, mountains, settlements and land use while developing deeper understanding of geographical change and interaction.

The scheme encourages pupils to think critically about places and environments through map work, fieldwork and geographical discussion. Lessons build confidence using atlases, four-figure grid references, diagrams and geographical vocabulary while helping pupils make connections between physical and human geography.
