Year 6 Autumn Maths Planning and Resources

Explore our complete collection of Year 6 autumn maths resources, covering the key mathematical knowledge and skills pupils develop during the first term of Year 6. Fully aligned with White Rose Maths and the Year 6 National Curriculum, these units provide structured progression through carefully sequenced lessons and lesson packs.

Throughout the autumn term, pupils strengthen their understanding of place value, develop fluency across the four operations, deepen their knowledge of fractions and apply mathematical understanding through measurement and unit conversion. Lessons build confidence, accuracy and reasoning while preparing pupils for the increasing demands of upper Key Stage 2 mathematics.

Each unit includes detailed lesson plans, interactive teaching slides, differentiated worksheets, assessment opportunities and supporting resources, providing everything needed to teach the Year 6 autumn maths curriculum with confidence.

About our Year 6 autumn maths resources

The autumn term establishes many of the key mathematical concepts that underpin Year 6 learning. Pupils build confidence with large numbers, develop efficient calculation strategies, strengthen their understanding of fractions and apply mathematical skills through measurement and conversion work.

Across these autumn maths units, pupils work with numbers up to 10,000,000, use formal written methods for all four operations, explore factors, multiples and prime numbers, calculate with fractions and convert between metric and imperial units. Fluency, reasoning and problem-solving opportunities are embedded throughout to support secure mathematical understanding and progression.
