About our Year 5 summer maths resources

The summer term helps pupils consolidate key lower Key Stage 2 learning while introducing concepts that support a successful transition into Year 6. Lessons encourage pupils to apply their mathematical understanding in increasingly complex situations, developing confidence, accuracy and reasoning skills.

Across these summer maths units, pupils read and plot coordinates, describe translations and reflections, calculate with decimals, interpret negative numbers in context, convert between units of measure and estimate and compare volume. Fluency, reasoning and problem-solving opportunities are embedded throughout to support secure mathematical understanding.
