Year 5 | Statistics: Spring Block 5: Week 12 – Lesson Resource Pack
Year 5 statistics lesson pack | Spring Block 5: Week 12
This Year 5 statistics lesson pack focuses on interpreting timetables and consolidating key learning from the statistics unit. Pupils develop confidence in reading and using timetables, alongside revisiting line graphs, tables and two-way tables to strengthen their understanding of data.
The week begins with reading and interpreting a range of timetables, including school schedules, transport timetables and TV listings. Pupils learn how to navigate rows and columns, identify key information and solve problems involving start times, end times and journeys. They then move on to a consolidation lesson, revisiting key skills from across the unit such as interpreting graphs, comparing data and completing tables.
This is a shorter week, with three teaching days as the unit and term come to an end. The third day is used for the end-of-block assessment, allowing pupils to demonstrate their understanding and reflect on their progress. The final two days are left flexible for catch-up, addressing areas of difficulty or completing end-of-term assessments.
