Year 5 statistics lesson pack | Spring Block 5: Week 11

This Year 5 statistics lesson pack supports pupils in drawing, interpreting and analysing data using line graphs, tables and two-way tables. Across the week, pupils develop confidence in selecting appropriate scales, plotting accurate data points and extracting information to solve comparison and difference problems.

Lessons begin with drawing line graphs from tables, where pupils learn to choose suitable intervals, label axes clearly and understand when to use dashed or solid lines. Pupils then move on to reading and interpreting line graphs, estimating values between intervals and explaining trends. Midweek learning focuses on interpreting tables, including comparing data, finding differences and identifying patterns. By the end of the week, pupils work with two-way tables, answering questions, calculating totals and finding missing values to deepen their understanding of relationships within data.
