Year 5 | Shape: Summer Block 1: Assessment
Year 5 shape assessment | Angles, polygons, perimeter and 3D shapes
This Year 5 shape assessment is designed to assess pupils’ understanding of key geometry concepts, including angles, polygons, perimeter and 3D shape properties. It provides a clear way to check understanding and identify gaps in learning.
The assessment begins with recognising and classifying angles, including acute, obtuse and reflex angles, before moving on to estimating and measuring angles accurately. Pupils then apply their knowledge of angles on a straight line and around a point to calculate missing angles in a range of contexts.
Further questions explore regular and irregular polygons, as well as perimeter of compound shapes. Pupils also demonstrate their understanding of 3D shapes by identifying properties such as faces, edges and vertices, and working with compound 3D shapes. The assessment includes a drawing task requiring pupils to construct an angle using a protractor, supporting assessment of precision and accuracy.
A full answer sheet is included to support efficient marking and help identify misconceptions quickly.
