Year 5 decimals assessment – Summer Block 3

This Year 5 decimals assessment provides an effective way to assess pupils’ understanding of decimal calculations and place value following Summer Block 3. The assessment covers key Year 5 decimal concepts including decimal sequences, multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1,000, adding and subtracting decimals, and solving decimal problems in a range of contexts.

Pupils apply their understanding of decimal place value by identifying rules in decimal sequences, completing missing value calculations and explaining the effect of multiplying and dividing by powers of ten. Questions encourage pupils to demonstrate fluency while also applying their knowledge to reasoning and problem-solving tasks.

The assessment includes opportunities for pupils to use efficient calculation strategies, solve measure problems involving decimals and work with decimals containing different numbers of decimal places. A complete answer sheet is included to support accurate assessment and identify areas for further teaching and intervention.
