Year 5 | Decimals and percentages: Week 7 – Lesson Resource Pack
Help pupils develop a secure and flexible understanding of decimals up to three decimal places in this Year 5 decimals and percentages lesson pack. Across the week, pupils recognise thousandths as decimals, represent and partition numbers using place value charts, and compare and order decimals with the same and different numbers of decimal places. Visual supports such as place value counters, number lines and charts are used throughout to strengthen conceptual understanding and address common misconceptions, including the role of zero as a placeholder and the false belief that more digits means a larger number. The week concludes with rounding decimals to the nearest whole number, with reasoning and problem-solving tasks embedded to support explanation and accuracy.
