Support structured spelling teaching with our Year 4 summer spelling resources, designed to accompany the Spelling Strand Year 4 – Summer Term – overview and rationale and the wider Mrs Mactivity SPaG scheme. These resources follow the Summer term spelling sequence, giving pupils regular opportunities to practise, apply and secure key spelling knowledge.
Each week focuses on a specific spelling pattern or word group, supported by a clear and consistent practice routine. Summer term coverage includes ‘sc’ spelling patterns, Year 3 and 4 statutory word list spellings, homophones, and patterns such as ‘ei’/‘ey’ and ‘gu’. The term then develops spelling accuracy further through word endings including -ly, -ous and -ation.
