Year 4 | Shape Assessment – Summer Block 4
This Year 4 shape assessment checks pupils’ understanding of key geometry objectives taught across Summer Block 4: Geometry – Shape. It is designed for use at the end of the block to assess pupils’ knowledge of angles, shape properties, polygons and symmetry.
The assessment includes questions on recognising turns and angles, identifying right, acute and obtuse angles, and comparing angles by size. Pupils also classify triangles and quadrilaterals using their properties, identify regular and irregular polygons, and work with lines of symmetry.
Symmetry questions require pupils to complete reflected shapes accurately, while other tasks check secure understanding of geometric vocabulary and properties rather than visual appearance alone.
What’s included in this assessment?
- Recognising and describing turns and angles
- Identifying right, acute and obtuse angles
- Comparing and ordering angles by size
- Classifying triangles using their properties
- Identifying and naming quadrilaterals
- Recognising regular and irregular polygons
- Identifying lines of symmetry
- Completing symmetrical shapes and patterns
- Answer sheet for efficient marking
This assessment supports teachers in identifying secure understanding and next steps before moving on, while remaining aligned with the Maths Masters teaching sequence.
Part of our Year 4 Summer Block 4: Geometry – Shape within the Maths Masters scheme.
