Spelling Strand Year 4 – Spring 2 – lesson presentations (Weeks 7–11)
Introduce each week’s spelling focus with our Year 4 Spring spelling lesson presentations, part of the Mrs Mactivity SPaG scheme. This set covers Weeks 7–11 of the Spring spelling strand, with spelling PowerPoints that guide pupils through the weekly spelling pattern or rule before practising and applying the words.
Each presentation supports the teaching sequence set out in the Spelling Strand Year 4 – Spring term – overview and rationale and is aligned with the National Curriculum. They include clear examples, modelled spellings and opportunities for discussion, helping pupils understand spelling patterns, word meanings and tricky parts.
Spring 2 spelling focuses include:
- Week 7 – Possessive apostrophes (e.g. girl’s, girls’, woman’s, women’s, child’s, children’s)
- Week 8 – Words ending in -ture (e.g. adventure, furniture, creature, structure)
- Week 9 – Words ending in /ʒə/ and -ture (e.g. measure, treasure, mixture, picture) – coming soon
- Week 10 – Homophones (e.g. some/sum, they’re/their/there, to/too/two) – coming soon
- Week 11 – Year 3 and 4 statutory word list (e.g. accidentally, believe, February, knowledge) – coming soon
These Spring spelling lesson presentations are ideal for introducing new spellings at the start of each week. Use alongside weekly spelling lists, Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check sheets and Year 4 spring spelling dictation tasks to provide consistent practice and full coverage across the Spring term spelling strand.
