Year 3/4 mixed-age Geography lesson pack rivers focuses on where rivers go and how they flow from source to mouth. This lesson is part of our rivers and mountains unit within the mixed-age Year 3/4 Geography scheme of work.

How to use our mixed-age Geography scheme of work:

For schools with mixed-age classes, the Year 3 and Year 4 blocks are organised into a two-year cycle.

In the first year, all pupils follow Cycle A.

In the second year, all pupils follow Cycle B. This ensures full coverage without repetition across KS2.

This lesson explores the journey of a river, helping pupils understand how rivers flow from mountains to seas, lakes or oceans, and how key features such as the source, course and mouth are connected.
