Spelling Strand Year 1 – Summer Term – Accompanying Spelling Resources
Year 1 Summer spelling resources
Access everything you need to teach spelling effectively with our Year 1 Summer spelling resources. Designed to accompany the Year 1 Summer spelling overview and rationale, these differentiated resources help pupils develop confidence in spelling, handwriting and accurate transcription while following a clear weekly teaching sequence.
Each week focuses on a specific spelling pattern, sound or rule from the Year 1 National Curriculum, including tch, alternative ear and are spellings, common exception words, compound words, words ending in v, k for the /c/ sound, verb endings using -s and -es, comparative and superlative endings -er and -est, and the prefix un-. These resources give pupils regular opportunities to practise, revisit and apply their weekly spellings at school and at home.

- Trace and write sheets to support handwriting, spelling practice and accurate letter formation
- Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check sheets for repeated practice and recall across the week
