These Year 1 Summer spelling dictation tasks help pupils apply new spellings accurately in context while developing transcription, handwriting and spelling confidence. The twelve weekly dictation passages follow the Summer spelling progression, covering tch, alternative ear and are spellings, common exception words, compound words, words ending in v, k for the /c/ sound, verb endings using -s and -es, comparative and superlative endings -er and -est, and the prefix un-.
