Year 1 science scheme of work, year 1 weather science lessons
Scintillating Science is an engaging science scheme of work that ensures coverage of substantive and disciplinary knowledge. Designed with the latest guidance from the Ofsted science subject report in mind, our primary science scheme provides a carefully sequenced, easy-to-follow approach to science teaching.
Science Scheme | Year 1 | Block 1: Seasonal Changes | Lesson 6: Making a Weather Report is the sixth lesson in block 1 for Year 1. The blocks are designed to be taught in order, but can be re-ordered to suit your curriculum.
This lesson supports pupils to apply what they’ve learned about the seasons and weather by creating and presenting their own weather report. Using age-appropriate symbols, maps and scientific vocabulary, pupils practise observing, recording and describing the weather in their local area.
Each lesson provides:
🧪 Interactive slides to model learning with teacher notes
🧪 Full lesson plan including vocabulary, misconceptions, prior learning, assessment and more
🧪 Continuous provision guidance and ideas
🧪 Differentiated worksheets and follow-up tasks
