Science Scheme | Year 1 | Block 1: Seasonal Changes | Lesson 5: Recording Data supports pupils to explore rainfall through simple data collection and pictograms. This Year 1 science lesson on recording data builds on prior learning and supports working scientifically skills through observation and recording.
Each lesson includes:
- 🧪 Interactive slides to model and guide the learning
- 🧪 A detailed lesson plan with vocabulary, misconceptions, assessment, and prior knowledge
- 🧪 Differentiated worksheet where children record rainfall using pictograms
- 🧪 Guidance for setting up a simple rain gauge and cross-curricular maths links
- 🧪 Continuous provision ideas for Early Years and KS1 classrooms
This lesson encourages careful observation, comparison and recording in a way that’s age-appropriate and practical. It supports progression towards data handling in maths and further scientific enquiry in Key Stage 1.
