Geography Scheme | Year 1/2 | Cycle B | Block 3: Will it be Sunny Today? Week 4: How Does the Weather Compare in Other Places in the UK?
Year 1/2 mixed-age geography lesson pack – How does the weather compare in other places in the UK?
This Year 1/2 mixed-age geography lesson pack is part of our Glorious Geography scheme. Created for mixed-age KS1 classes, it helps teachers build pupils’ understanding of weather, place and comparison through engaging geographical enquiry.
Our mixed-age geography scheme follows a two-year cycle so pupils can learn together without repeating the same blocks. In the first year of the cycle, all pupils follow the Cycle A blocks. In the second year, they move on to Cycle B blocks, giving schools a clear and practical way to teach geography across Year 1 and Year 2.
Geography Scheme | Year 1/2 | Cycle B | Block 3: Will it be Sunny Today? | Week 4: How Does the Weather Compare in Other Places in the UK? is the fourth lesson in Cycle B Block 3 for mixed-age Year 1/2. The blocks are designed to be taught in order, but can be adapted to suit your own school curriculum.
In this lesson, pupils compare weather in different places across the UK and begin to notice how location can affect daily weather patterns. The children develop their geographical understanding by exploring similarities and differences between places, using observation, discussion and simple comparison tasks.
Each lesson pack includes:
- An enquiry-based approach that develops geographical and fieldwork skills
- Comprehensive lesson plans with vocabulary, misconceptions, cross-curricular links, key questions and assessment opportunities
- Teacher knowledge and prior learning to support confident teaching
- Editable PowerPoints that model the learning
- Differentiated worksheets and activities
