Geography Scheme | Year 1/2 | Cycle A | Block 3: Why do They Live There? | Lesson 6: Can you Plan a Trip to Cardiff?
Year 1/2 mixed-age geography lesson pack – Can you plan a trip to Cardiff?
This Year 1/2 mixed-age geography lesson pack is part of our Glorious Geography scheme. It supports mixed-age classes by helping pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 learn together while building clear geographical knowledge and skills across KS1.
The scheme follows a two-year cycle. In Cycle A, pupils complete one set of units before moving on to a different set in Cycle B, ensuring full coverage without repeating content.
Geography Scheme | Year 1/2 | Cycle A | Block 3: Why do They Live There? | Lesson 6: Can you plan a trip to Cardiff? is the sixth lesson in this block. Pupils apply their learning about Cardiff by planning a trip and thinking carefully about location, travel and what they might find there.
This lesson brings together knowledge from across the unit, giving the children the chance to use what they have learned in a practical and purposeful way.
Each lesson pack includes:
- An enquiry-based approach with opportunities to develop geographical understanding and fieldwork skills
- Comprehensive lesson plans with vocabulary, misconceptions, cross-curricular links, key questions and assessment opportunities
- Teacher knowledge and prior learning to support confident teaching
- Editable PowerPoints that model the learning
- Differentiated worksheets and activities
