Geography Scheme | Year 1/2 | Cycle A | Block 3: Why do They Live There? | Lesson 4: What is it Like to Live in Cardiff?
Year 1/2 mixed-age geography lesson pack – What is it like to live in Cardiff?
This Year 1/2 mixed-age geography lesson pack is part of our Glorious Geography scheme. It supports mixed-age classes by allowing pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 to learn together while building clear progression across KS1.
The scheme is structured on a two-year cycle. In Cycle A, pupils complete one set of units, before moving on to a different set in Cycle B. This ensures full coverage without repetition.
Geography Scheme | Year 1/2 | Cycle A | Block 3: Why do They Live There? | Lesson 4: What is it like to live in Cardiff? is the fourth lesson in this block. Pupils explore daily life in Cardiff, developing their understanding of what it is like to live in a city and how it compares to their own local area.
This lesson builds on prior learning about cities and Cardiff itself, helping the children deepen their understanding through comparison and discussion.
Each lesson pack includes:
- An enquiry-based approach with opportunities to develop geographical understanding and fieldwork skills
- Comprehensive lesson plans with vocabulary, misconceptions, cross-curricular links, key questions and assessment opportunities
- Teacher knowledge and prior learning to support confident teaching
- Editable PowerPoints that model the learning
- Differentiated worksheets and activities
