Geography Scheme | Year 1/2 | Cycle A | Block 3: Why do They Live There? | Lesson 3: What do you Know About Cardiff?
Year 1/2 mixed-age geography lesson pack – What do you know about Cardiff?
This Year 1/2 mixed-age geography lesson pack is part of our Glorious Geography scheme. It is designed to support mixed-age classes, helping pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 build knowledge together while making clear progress across KS1.
The scheme follows a two-year cycle. In Cycle A, all pupils study one set of blocks. In Cycle B, they move on to a different set, ensuring full coverage without repetition.
Geography Scheme | Year 1/2 | Cycle A | Block 3: Why do They Live There? | Lesson 3: What do you know about Cardiff? is the third lesson in this block. Pupils explore Cardiff as a real-life example of a city, developing their understanding of location, features and what makes places different.
This lesson builds on previous learning about cities, giving the children the chance to apply their knowledge to a specific place and begin to compare it with where they live.
Each lesson pack includes:
- An enquiry-based approach with opportunities to develop geographical understanding and fieldwork skills
- Comprehensive lesson plans with vocabulary, misconceptions, cross-curricular links, key questions and assessment opportunities
- Teacher knowledge and prior learning to support confident teaching
- Editable PowerPoints that model the learning
- Differentiated worksheets and activities
