Whole School Geography Long Term Overview – EYFS to Year 6

Our Whole School Geography Long Term Overview supports teachers and subject leaders to deliver a complete, progressive geography curriculum from EYFS to KS2. Fully aligned with the National Curriculum, it ensures clear coverage for Reception, KS1 and KS2, including mixed-age classes in Years 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6. Part of our Glorious Geography scheme, recognised as Highly Commended by the Geographical Association, the overview maps out enquiry-based units that build knowledge and skills year on year. In EYFS and KS1 pupils explore local environments, weather and contrasting places, while in KS2 they study rivers, coasts, climate zones, trade and global geography. The long term plan includes:

  • Clear progression from EYFS to Year 6.
  • Two-year cycles for mixed-age classes.
  • Enquiry-led units with key vocabulary and assessment.
  • Interactive slides and differentiated worksheets for every unit.
