EYFS geography lesson – Where would you like to live in the world?
This EYFS geography lesson on climates is the final part of Reception Block 2: What Is the Weather Like?. Pupils reflect on what they have learned about hot, cold and local environments, and share their own ideas about where they would like to live and why. They compare different climates, discuss likes and dislikes, and begin to explain advantages and disadvantages of living in contrasting places.

Teaching tip
Model giving your own preferences with reasons, for example “I like snowy places because I enjoy building snowmen” or “I don’t like very hot weather because it makes me tired.” Encourage children to explain their own choices and discuss different opinions. Use role play, books and maps to revisit earlier learning and consolidate vocabulary.
