This Year 5 SPaG lesson pack focuses on using a range of cohesive devices within a paragraph to improve clarity and structure. Pupils explore how to link ideas smoothly using adverbials, conjunctions, repetition of key words and other strategies.

The Year 5 SPaG PowerPoint introduces cohesion techniques with clear examples and modelled sentences. Pupils then apply their understanding through targeted practice activities.

Included are Year 5 cohesion within a paragraph worksheets, with two levels of differentiated tasks. Children will analyse paragraphs, identify cohesive devices, and improve cohesion in their own writing.
