Nursery Maths: Block 18: Starting to Puzzle
Nursery maths lesson pack: Shape and puzzles | Summer term
Support early spatial awareness and problem-solving with this nursery maths lesson pack on shape and puzzles, aligned with the EYFS maths framework and White Rose progression. Part of the Summer term scheme, this unit helps the children explore matching, positioning and reasoning through hands-on activities.
Across the six small steps, the children complete simple puzzles and jigsaws, match objects to pictures and shadows, and explore how shapes and objects fit together. They begin to view objects from different positions and create simple routes using lines and curves.
Through structured activities and purposeful play, the children develop confidence in recognising shapes, solving simple problems and describing position and movement.
