Lesson 6: Selecting Materials
Year 1 selecting materials lesson
This Year 1 selecting materials lesson helps pupils apply their understanding of material properties by choosing suitable materials for a specific purpose. As part of the Everyday Materials unit, pupils use their scientific knowledge to compare materials and explain why certain materials are better suited to particular jobs.
In this engaging lesson, pupils help Minifluff choose the best materials to build a spaceship. Through discussion, questioning and practical application of prior learning, pupils consider the properties of different materials and justify their choices using scientific vocabulary.
Lesson includes
