Year 4 sound assessment

Use this Year 4 sound assessment to check pupils’ understanding at the end of your sound unit. Covering key National Curriculum objectives, this assessment helps pupils show what they know about how sounds are made, vibration, pitch, volume, sound travelling through different media, fair testing and recording results using tables, charts and diagrams.

The resource includes differentiated versions, with questions designed to assess both scientific knowledge and working scientifically skills. Pupils will answer questions about instruments, cup telephones, sound insulation, distance from a sound source and how sound travels underwater, making it a useful end-of-block assessment for tracking progress.
